Insect Rearing Cages

The insect cages shown right are the type that we use for stick insects, caterpillars, mantids and many other insects. The cage has a plastic base and side, and a net top for ventilation. This is held in place with elastic. They can easily be dismantled for cleaning. The cages come in two sizes, small and medium. We also do a cage which has a flower pot base which is best suited for grasshoppers and crickets which require a deeper substrate (please e-mail us for further information on this type of cage or if you require further information).

You may purchase the cage separately or as a Stick Insect starter kit, which comprises of the cage, 5 stick insect nymphs of our choice and a water container. All you need is to provide the foodplant.

Pop - up Cylindrical Cage

 

This pop-up cylindrical mesh cage is ideal for keeping butterflies in to observe once they have hatched.  It is also suitable for keeping many other insects in as well as stick insects.  Made of soft, fine, strong mesh with a zip top allowing the cage to be inverted over a potted plant.  Approx size: 35cm diameter; 45 cm high.  Can be stored flat to save space when not in use.

Large Pop - up Net Cage

 

This free standing net cage can be used for keeping larger stick insects in as well as caterpillars and an ideal pairing cage for moths and butterflies.  A side zip opening allows access into the cage.   Approx size: 110cm x 55cm x 55cm..  Can be stored flat to save space when not in use.
